I am Margaret Graham. I have resided in the Reno and Carson City communities since I was nine months old. I am a cradle Catholic and received all my sacraments at St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral. After graduating from the University of Nevada, Reno, I taught in Reno and Carson City. My field was social studies at the secondary level. In 1968, I married Denis Graham and we were blessed with a girl and a boy. When they were older, I went back to teaching and was one of the first teachers in the State-mandated S.H.A.R.E. (Sexuality, Health and Responsibility Education) Program. I taught in that program for sixteen and one-half years and retired in 2002. My position at Our Lady of the Snows is to serve as advocate for those who wish to pursue an annulment from their previous sacramental marriage. My other responsibility is to help prepare couples for their marriage in the Catholic Church. In order to prepare to serve as an annulment advocate I twice attended an outstanding training program near Seattle, WA. Each of the training sessions focused on different aspects of advocacy. This training meant a great deal to me as a means of helping people through the annulment process. In addition, I serve in the funeral ministry for Our Lady of the Snows. I meet with bereaved families of the deceased and help plan the time and the order of the mass. It is a great pleasure for me to be working in these ministries with the wonderful people of Our Lady of the Snows. |
