All persons are called to a life of holiness; to be saints. It means we live the best versions of ourselves as God created us. The paths of holiness are many, but the church recognizes two such paths with Sacramental Importance: Marriage and Ordination. These two paths are given importance and emphasis so that those married or ordained will give witness to the rest of the world the call to live as holy men and women.
The Vocation of Marriage: There are two important groups that help couples prepare for their vocation and to help married couples sustain their vocation. Engaged Encounter (www.RenoEE.org) sponsors weekends in which couples getting married have time to listen, discern and speak to one another about what they will celebrate and live out as a husband and wife. Fr. Bob presents at least once a year to this group (the next weekend is February 18- 19). All couples preparing for the Sacrament of Matrimony are required to participate within the Diocese of Reno. Worldwide Marriage Encounter (www.wwme.org) works with married couples on weekends to build up and support their marriages. Couples have time away from kids, work, and other obligations to simply give that most valuable asset, time, to each other. Our Lady of the Snows has volunteer members who assist on these weekends. Check out their websites to learn more, and maybe participate or volunteer so as to help promote the Vocation of marriage
