SWA January, 2017 Newsletter Article:
Happy New Year! 2017 has already been eventful here in Northern Nevada. We’ve surpassed our average snow pack for the season. I praise God for the water. Sometimes the flooding comes with the blessing. I hope any of you who were affected by this are recovering quickly. Wishing you peace and prosperity in all of your endeavors during the coming year.
Our Winter Dinner/Dance is fast approaching! Please support this event with your attendance, its success depends upon you. We have a wonderful menu and talented musicians on the agenda. “The more, the merrier” definitely applies.
January is devoted to ‘The Holy Name of Jesus”. St. Paul tells us, “At the name of Jesus every knee should bow”. We are instructed to pray in His name several times in the Bible. In the “Litany of the Holy Name of Jesus” He is the redeemer, the author of life, the zealous lover of souls, to list but a few of His names. I remember as a child thinking, “The list goes on and on” and “Wow, that’s everything”. I certainly didn’t realize that I was completely correct. He is EVERYTHING to all people. Just saying His name, Jesus, is a prayer. I do love the simplicity of that. It requires very little effort, thought or time to simply recite His name throughout the day. I find it a good way to hold Him close in my daily routine; there is evidence of the benefits. I’d like to add “attitude improver” to the list. Can you add one, too? I pray, in the name of Jesus, that each of us knows the love of Our Savior in a special and personal way.
